It means trusting, relying on, and putting our confidence in someone. In this talk, we look at the difference between simply believing something intellectually and actually putting our weight on it — with a little help from an old Dr Pepper advert and an ordinary chair. What is grace? And what does Christians mean when we talk about “God’s grace”? In this short video, Phil explores the meaning of grace through a simple encounter on holiday in Italy. Lost, exhausted and struggling in the heat, a stranger appeared with cold water and a place to sit. She spoke no English, and we spoke almost no Italian — but somehow, “grazie” and “prego” were enough. That small moment became a reminder of what Christian grace is: receiving something we haven't earned and don't deserve. The Christian message is that God's grace is at the heart of our relationship with him. Through Jesus, God offers forgiveness, love and a restored relationship with him — not because we have earned it, but because God gives freely. So perhaps the question isn't just “What is grace?” It's also: Where can you see grace in your own life?
